“I give you until noon on Nov 5; if by then we do not get an explanation, then we will gather here –20,000 of us – and ensure that part of this building will collapse,” said Jamal at the Malaysiakini offices on Thursday.
Malaysiakini editor-in-chief Steven Gan and editors RK Anand and Jimadie Shah Othman met him.
After leaving the building, Jamal said the Red Shirts were against “agents” of foreign influences, and named Malaysiakini and Bersih in his tirade.
“We are muak (sick) of Bersih 1,2, 3 and 4. Now, they are trying to poison the rakyat’s minds to topple a democratically elected Prime Minister,” he said.
The Sungai Besar Umno division leader had gathered at the building with scores of people chanting ‘Merah Merah’ (Red, red) and ‘Hancur Soros’ (Destroy Soros).
Jamal had told Malaysiakini that “you champion freedom of expression, so we want to see how far this freedom of expression goes” when leading the demonstration.
He also took the news portal to task for what he perceived as a lack of hospitality shown towards his visit.
"We alerted the press yesterday about our visit so you should have prepared coffee or something," he told reporters.
More than a dozen police personnel were present.
